Narrative:

I was conducting a training flight approximately 2-3 mi southwest of the lgu airport. I was at 6000 ft MSL, thermaling for altitude. A cessna citation jet approached us from the north at 6000 ft MSL, apparently downwind for landing on runway 35 at logan. The cessna jet pilot made a right 360 degree turn, and descended below us to make an approach and landing on runway 35. The pilot of the citation was very upset that he encountered us in his original flight path. I informed him that we were above traffic pattern altitude and outside the normal traffic pattern. The cessna pilot met us on the ground afterward and informed me that we had no right to be maneuvering in his traffic pattern for any other purpose than landing. We believe that we had taken the precaution of being above 1500 ft AGL, and 2-3 mi from the field to not be trouble for anyone approaching the field. We agreed to try and stay east of the field in the future. However, the citation pilot stated that he does not believe that our operations are compatible with jet traffic, and wants us to close operations. We don't know what to do other than to increase our collision avoidance vigilance.

Title: SCHWEIZER 233A HELI EXPERIENCED CONFLICT WITH CITATION NEAR THE TFC PATTERN AT LGU, UTAH.

Narrative: I WAS CONDUCTING A TRAINING FLT APPROX 2-3 MI SW OF THE LGU ARPT. I WAS AT 6000 FT MSL, THERMALING FOR ALT. A CESSNA CITATION JET APCHED US FROM THE N AT 6000 FT MSL, APPARENTLY DOWNWIND FOR LNDG ON RWY 35 AT LOGAN. THE CESSNA JET PLT MADE A R 360 DEG TURN, AND DSNDED BELOW US TO MAKE AN APCH AND LNDG ON RWY 35. THE PLT OF THE CITATION WAS VERY UPSET THAT HE ENCOUNTERED US IN HIS ORIGINAL FLT PATH. I INFORMED HIM THAT WE WERE ABOVE TFC PATTERN ALT AND OUTSIDE THE NORMAL TFC PATTERN. THE CESSNA PLT MET US ON THE GND AFTERWARD AND INFORMED ME THAT WE HAD NO RIGHT TO BE MANEUVERING IN HIS TFC PATTERN FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE THAN LNDG. WE BELIEVE THAT WE HAD TAKEN THE PRECAUTION OF BEING ABOVE 1500 FT AGL, AND 2-3 MI FROM THE FIELD TO NOT BE TROUBLE FOR ANYONE APCHING THE FIELD. WE AGREED TO TRY AND STAY E OF THE FIELD IN THE FUTURE. HOWEVER, THE CITATION PLT STATED THAT HE DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT OUR OPS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH JET TFC, AND WANTS US TO CLOSE OPS. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN TO INCREASE OUR COLLISION AVOIDANCE VIGILANCE.
