Narrative:
After landing at austin (aus) I exited runway 17L at taxiway J. The PNF read back ground control instructions to taxi to and hold short of runway 17L via parallel taxiway B. Shortly before reaching the hold line for runway 17L, the PNF asked me if I had any discrepancies to report to our maintenance department. I replied 'no' and then continued taxiing. The PNF looked up and said 'you've crossed the hold line, you haven't been cleared to cross the approach end.' I stopped and (austin) ground control informed me I had crossed the runway 17L hold line. The cessna citation (specific model unknown to me) on final executed a go around. I do not know if I just forgot the hold short instruction or if I anticipated clearance to cross the approach end of the runway. After crossing the approach end and parking the aircraft, I discussed the incident with the PNF. I suggested that postflt reports not be filled out until after shut down, so that both pilots can be attentive to taxiing.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BE20 FLT CREW INADVERTENTLY CROSSES AN ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT A CLRNC, RESULTING IN AN ACFT GAR.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG AT AUSTIN (AUS) I EXITED RWY 17L AT TXWY J. THE PNF READ BACK GND CTL INSTRUCTIONS TO TAXI TO AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17L VIA PARALLEL TXWY B. SHORTLY BEFORE REACHING THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 17L, THE PNF ASKED ME IF I HAD ANY DISCREPANCIES TO RPT TO OUR MAINT DEPT. I REPLIED 'NO' AND THEN CONTINUED TAXIING. THE PNF LOOKED UP AND SAID 'YOU'VE CROSSED THE HOLD LINE, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN CLRED TO CROSS THE APCH END.' I STOPPED AND (AUSTIN) GND CTL INFORMED ME I HAD CROSSED THE RWY 17L HOLD LINE. THE CESSNA CITATION (SPECIFIC MODEL UNKNOWN TO ME) ON FINAL EXECUTED A GAR. I DO NOT KNOW IF I JUST FORGOT THE HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION OR IF I ANTICIPATED CLRNC TO CROSS THE APCH END OF THE RWY. AFTER XING THE APCH END AND PARKING THE ACFT, I DISCUSSED THE INCIDENT WITH THE PNF. I SUGGESTED THAT POSTFLT RPTS NOT BE FILLED OUT UNTIL AFTER SHUT DOWN, SO THAT BOTH PLTS CAN BE ATTENTIVE TO TAXIING.
