Narrative:

Upon landing at dfw due to return for unsafe thrust reverser indications, the automatic spoilers did not deploy. We did not enter this into the logbook because we thought we might have missed the detent. This is the third time this has happened to me in the last 2 months. Since it is not the first officer's job to arm the spoilers, I have no idea if the detent is easy to miss or if the mechanism is getting worn. In each case, we deployed the spoilers manually. In light of a recent accident at little rock, I feel this problem needs to be investigated. I would bet that many crews do not write this problem up because they think it was their fault for missing the detent.
