Narrative:
Approaching lubbock, decided on localizer back course 35. Briefed approach. While still out from the airport, the controller queried us as to whether we still wanted runway 35 because of the NOTAM on ATIS. Nothing was mentioned on the ATIS about NOTAMS. After verifying the ATIS and the WX packet, the shortened runway was verified. We lnded runway 26 uneventfully. I will say that if we had made the approach, we would have noticed the partial runway closure and gone around. My contribution to this scenario is not checking the NOTAMS myself.
