Narrative:

During cruise flight at FL330 with the a autoplt engaged, the captain's vertical speed indicator slewed to full descent. The aircraft then began a climb. The crew noticed the deviation when 200 ft above assigned altitude of FL330. The captain disconnected the autoplt and stopped the climb before reaching 300 ft above altitude. The aircraft was then returned to FL330. No human factors were involved.

Title: B737-300 CREW HAD THE CAPT'S PFD ATTITUDE INDICATOR FAIL. THE #1 AUTOPLT, WHICH REFS THAT SYS, CLBED THE ACFT BEFORE THE CREW COULD DISCONNECT IT.

Narrative: DURING CRUISE FLT AT FL330 WITH THE A AUTOPLT ENGAGED, THE CAPT'S VERT SPD INDICATOR SLEWED TO FULL DSCNT. THE ACFT THEN BEGAN A CLB. THE CREW NOTICED THE DEV WHEN 200 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT OF FL330. THE CAPT DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND STOPPED THE CLB BEFORE REACHING 300 FT ABOVE ALT. THE ACFT WAS THEN RETURNED TO FL330. NO HUMAN FACTORS WERE INVOLVED.
