Narrative:
Captain called and said there was smoke in the cockpit and we were going back and pickup all your service items. At that point, I began to smell the smoke or something burning. The plane made a left banking turn at that point. We went to houston iah and landed. It was stressful. Later we continued on to destination. My suggestions: I and the other flight attendants were emotionally exhausted upon return to base. I had to report to work the next morning at XM00 again. I was mentally and physically exhausted and felt I could not have handled another event. It should be mandatory that crew members have at least 24 hours off between events. Company said they would not remove us and pay us.
