Narrative:
Departed mry at approximately XA30 local on jun/tue/03, en route to sna via direct pom direct sna. Obtained transponder code on ground at mry, and received radar advisories from oak/ZLA. Upon reaching the border of a tfr (30 NM radius of lax), ZLA instructed me to 'squawk VFR frequency change approved.' I questioned this instruction, and was again told to 'squawk VFR, frequency change approved.' I asked for and received the frequency for socal approach. At this point, I was within the tfr. I then inserted code 1200 in the transponder, and attempted contact with socal. I was told to stand by as I was proceeding out of the tfr. I called again to socal about 30 seconds later, and was again told to stand by. About 1 min later, I attempted another call to socal, and was given a different frequency. At this point, I was out of the tfr. Upon contact with socal on the new frequency, I was given another transponder code, and proceeded to landing at sna.

Narrative: DEPARTED MRY AT APPROX XA30 LCL ON JUN/TUE/03, ENRTE TO SNA VIA DIRECT POM DIRECT SNA. OBTAINED XPONDER CODE ON GND AT MRY, AND RECEIVED RADAR ADVISORIES FROM OAK/ZLA. UPON REACHING THE BORDER OF A TFR (30 NM RADIUS OF LAX), ZLA INSTRUCTED ME TO 'SQUAWK VFR FREQ CHANGE APPROVED.' I QUESTIONED THIS INSTRUCTION, AND WAS AGAIN TOLD TO 'SQUAWK VFR, FREQ CHANGE APPROVED.' I ASKED FOR AND RECEIVED THE FREQ FOR SOCAL APCH. AT THIS POINT, I WAS WITHIN THE TFR. I THEN INSERTED CODE 1200 IN THE XPONDER, AND ATTEMPTED CONTACT WITH SOCAL. I WAS TOLD TO STAND BY AS I WAS PROCEEDING OUT OF THE TFR. I CALLED AGAIN TO SOCAL ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER, AND WAS AGAIN TOLD TO STAND BY. ABOUT 1 MIN LATER, I ATTEMPTED ANOTHER CALL TO SOCAL, AND WAS GIVEN A DIFFERENT FREQ. AT THIS POINT, I WAS OUT OF THE TFR. UPON CONTACT WITH SOCAL ON THE NEW FREQ, I WAS GIVEN ANOTHER XPONDER CODE, AND PROCEEDED TO LNDG AT SNA.
