Narrative:

I am working seasonal for a maintenance company based in ZZZ, us. I started with the company on may/mon/03, and will finish the season at the end of sep 2003. For the season I am based at the ZZZ1 station with a bell 206B-3 for the university of ZZZ at ZZZ1 located 150 mi south of ZZZ2 on the north slope. On jul/wed/03, I started a phase 5 inspection on the bell 206B-3 and completed it on jul/sat/03. Even though I received training when I started with company and I have read through the maintenance record keeping guide as well as the company approved inspection program and understood that I had a 25 hour window to do the inspection once it was started, I still interrupted the entry at the bottom of the log sheets (next inspection due phase 5 at 7125.0 hours) to be that this was the time the inspection was to be started. Thinking from this time I would have 25 hours to complete this inspection ending at 7150.0 actt. After talking to mr X at company hangar on jul/mon/03, after the paperwork was sent in and reading through the manuals again did I realize that the inspection was to be started at the 100 hour being 7100.0 actt and to be completed at 7125.0 actt. The phase inspections that I have been involved with in the past was always entered on the logbook sheets with the time the inspection was to be started and then having the window to work in after the starting time. I feel that this was the cause for the discrepancy that accrued.
