Narrative:
Upon climb out, at the point when the gear was almost up, I heard what sounded like a motor straining to turn or run, on the right side of the aircraft near the aircraft right lavatory. The vibration was unusually loud and continuous, and not normal. I called the captain, described the noise and location and was told that the cockpit was aware of the problem and that our hydraulics failed. We were going to land at ord. Passenger were as concerned as I was. Shortly thereafter, the captain made a PA regarding landing, hydraulics, and emergency crews that would be awaiting us alongside the runway for possible assistance. Landing was normal and uneventful. We waited approximately 1 hour 30 mins for maintenance to place fasteners in struts to prevent a collapse during taxi. No evacuate/evacuation was necessary, but change of underpants requested.

Title: AN F-100 FLT ATTENDANT RPTED THAT, DURING TKOF FROM ORD, A HYD FAILURE OCCURRED, CAUSING THE CAPT TO RETURN LAND
Narrative: UPON CLBOUT, AT THE POINT WHEN THE GEAR WAS ALMOST UP, I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A MOTOR STRAINING TO TURN OR RUN, ON THE R SIDE OF THE ACFT NEAR THE ACFT R LAVATORY. THE VIBRATION WAS UNUSUALLY LOUD AND CONTINUOUS, AND NOT NORMAL. I CALLED THE CAPT, DESCRIBED THE NOISE AND LOCATION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE COCKPIT WAS AWARE OF THE PROB AND THAT OUR HYDS FAILED. WE WERE GOING TO LAND AT ORD. PAX WERE AS CONCERNED AS I WAS. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE CAPT MADE A PA REGARDING LNDG, HYDS, AND EMER CREWS THAT WOULD BE AWAITING US ALONGSIDE THE RWY FOR POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE. LNDG WAS NORMAL AND UNEVENTFUL. WE WAITED APPROX 1 HR 30 MINS FOR MAINT TO PLACE FASTENERS IN STRUTS TO PREVENT A COLLAPSE DURING TAXI. NO EVAC WAS NECESSARY, BUT CHANGE OF UNDERPANTS REQUESTED.
