Narrative:

On approaching the gate first officer and I visually cleared the ramp/parking area. No equipment appeared to be outside the safety line. I lined up with the lead-in line and followed marshallers' instructions. Upon approaching jetway area, I began to slow aircraft in anticipation of stopping, continuing to follow marshalers signals. I felt the aircraft make contact with something outside. I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. The left engine had contacted the jetway. The same scenario happened 2 weeks prior at another gate, same city, same type aircraft, different crew.
