Narrative:
Prior to departure, the first officer and I discussed our clearance to include the teb 5 SID. After being cleared for takeoff, we climbed to 1500 ft, runway heading and leveled off momentarily, and made a right turn 280 degrees. While on the 280 degree heading, there was a miscom as to when to initiate climb to 2000 ft. The first officer checked in with departure at 2000 ft and ATC responded with 'fine, except you are supposed to be at 1500 ft!' we immediately returned to 1500 ft and apologized. Nothing more was said. To prevent this from ever happening again, I feel that not feeling rushed by passenger would remedy this problem. Better communication would also help in this situation. Supplemental information from acn 588980: the captain told me that he had flown this side a thousand times. I thought the captain knew the SID. I should have paid more attention, but I thought he knew the SID.

Narrative: PRIOR TO DEP, THE FO AND I DISCUSSED OUR CLRNC TO INCLUDE THE TEB 5 SID. AFTER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF, WE CLBED TO 1500 FT, RWY HEADING AND LEVELED OFF MOMENTARILY, AND MADE A R TURN 280 DEGS. WHILE ON THE 280 DEG HDG, THERE WAS A MISCOM AS TO WHEN TO INITIATE CLB TO 2000 FT. THE FO CHKED IN WITH DEP AT 2000 FT AND ATC RESPONDED WITH 'FINE, EXCEPT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AT 1500 FT!' WE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO 1500 FT AND APOLOGIZED. NOTHING MORE WAS SAID. TO PREVENT THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN, I FEEL THAT NOT FEELING RUSHED BY PAX WOULD REMEDY THIS PROB. BETTER COM WOULD ALSO HELP IN THIS SIT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 588980: THE CAPT TOLD ME THAT HE HAD FLOWN THIS SIDE A THOUSAND TIMES. I THOUGHT THE CAPT KNEW THE SID. I SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE ATTN, BUT I THOUGHT HE KNEW THE SID.
