Narrative:
Took off and leveled. 45 mins after takeoff, the purser called the aft gallery area and explained we only had 3 gallons of water on aircraft. 5-10 mins later, she told us that we could be landing in ord for water. About 10 mins later, the cockpit called us and said we would be landing. We had 2 1/2 hours to ord. They had to dump fuel. We decided to do the meal and beverage service. Completed the services and landed. No one got off. Mechanics came on and closed off the lavatory 2L. Water was then put on and refueled. We were given 297 gallons of water. Continued to lhr. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the water tanks were svced at the departure station and the service slip was delivered to the cockpit. The reporter said en route the tanks were checked and found to be almost empty and the decision was made to land at ord for water service. The reporter stated at ord the tanks were svced and 2 aft lavatories were taken OTS for leaking.
