Narrative:
A reduced thrust takeoff (EPR 1.38) was aborted at approximately 90 KTS due to right engine failure. There was a muffled 'bang' with associated swerve to the right. Captain performed the abort maneuver. First officer notified tower. Autobrakes stopped the aircraft on the runway. Crew noticed right engine egt red at 682 with N1 and N2 rotation. Flight attendants were queried and stated that no smoke or fire was observed from the right engine. Captain made PA for passenger to remain seated -- that we had a problem -- and that everything was under control. Initially, there was some ambiguity as to which qrc to use -- 'high engine egt-compressor stall' or 'engine fire/severe damage/separation.' the latter was accomplished along with irregular procedure. We taxied back to the gate on 1 engine. Passenger were deplaned and accommodated. We debriefed and critiqued as a crew. Mechanics noticed metal fragments in the right engine tailpipe.

Title: A B757-200 ABORTED TKOF AT 90 KTS DUE TO R ENG FAILURE. TECHNICIANS FOUND METAL FRAGMENTS IN TAILPIPE.
Narrative: A REDUCED THRUST TKOF (EPR 1.38) WAS ABORTED AT APPROX 90 KTS DUE TO R ENG FAILURE. THERE WAS A MUFFLED 'BANG' WITH ASSOCIATED SWERVE TO THE R. CAPT PERFORMED THE ABORT MANEUVER. FO NOTIFIED TWR. AUTOBRAKES STOPPED THE ACFT ON THE RWY. CREW NOTICED R ENG EGT RED AT 682 WITH N1 AND N2 ROTATION.
