Narrative:
Landed on runway 33 and instructed to roll to end and turn off at end and taxi to ramp. As I slowed at the end of runway I turned off on A2 which I thought was the last end taxiway. I don't recall seeing a parking sign and was advised by tower that we just turned on a closed taxiway. We asked for progressive because we thought he was referring the parallel taxiway 'a.' A2 was notamed out and we had reviewed this on our briefing, next time will be more attentive to these details. Contributing factors to this event were that the txwys are both at the end of runway and close enough to be mistaken and poorly marked. Supplemental information from acn 589789: this occurrence could have been avoided had the intersection been better signed and the controller been more specific in his taxi instructions.

Title: B757 LANDING AT ROA ENTERED CLOSED TXWY WHILE EXITING THE RWY.
Narrative: LANDED ON RWY 33 AND INSTRUCTED TO ROLL TO END AND TURN OFF AT END AND TAXI TO RAMP. AS I SLOWED AT THE END OF RWY I TURNED OFF ON A2 WHICH I THOUGHT WAS THE LAST END TXWY. I DON'T RECALL SEEING A PARKING SIGN AND WAS ADVISED BY TWR THAT WE JUST TURNED ON A CLOSED TXWY. WE ASKED FOR PROGRESSIVE BECAUSE WE THOUGHT HE WAS REFERRING THE PARALLEL TXWY 'A.' A2 WAS NOTAMED OUT AND WE HAD REVIEWED THIS ON OUR BRIEFING, NEXT TIME WILL BE MORE ATTENTIVE TO THESE DETAILS. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THIS EVENT WERE THAT THE TXWYS ARE BOTH AT THE END OF RWY AND CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE MISTAKEN AND POORLY MARKED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 589789: THIS OCCURRENCE COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD THE INTXN BEEN BETTER SIGNED AND THE CTLR BEEN MORE SPECIFIC IN HIS TAXI INSTRUCTIONS.
