Narrative:
We were being marshaled into a parked position at gate. Aircraft was almost in position and stopped too short. Marshaller directed captain to continue forward when I saw another ramp person run over with crossed arms and I smelled the strong odor of fuel in the aircraft at just about that same time. We shut down the engines and called ground control to send fire equipment. Jetway driver repositioned jetway to the 2L door and we quickly removed passenger to the terminal building. The #1 engine pylon area had contacted the underside of the improperly positioned jetway and this caused a fuel line to break. Part of the problem with this parking area is that there are numerous construction vehicles in this jetway area which could have caused the jetway to not be properly parked. Also, there is a shortage of staff to take care of making sure of that. This jetway also serves another gate, so it is frequently having to be repositioned, and not parked where it should be. We learned of this after the fact.

Title: B757 FLT CREW CONTACTS JETBRIDGE WITH L ENG CAUSING A FUEL LEAK AT MIA.
Narrative: WE WERE BEING MARSHALED INTO A PARKED POS AT GATE. ACFT WAS ALMOST IN POS AND STOPPED TOO SHORT. MARSHALLER DIRECTED CAPT TO CONTINUE FORWARD WHEN I SAW ANOTHER RAMP PERSON RUN OVER WITH CROSSED ARMS AND I SMELLED THE STRONG ODOR OF FUEL IN THE ACFT AT JUST ABOUT THAT SAME TIME. WE SHUT DOWN THE ENGS AND CALLED GND CTL TO SEND FIRE EQUIP. JETWAY DRIVER REPOSITIONED JETWAY TO THE 2L DOOR AND WE QUICKLY REMOVED PAX TO THE TERMINAL BUILDING. THE #1 ENG PYLON AREA HAD CONTACTED THE UNDERSIDE OF THE IMPROPERLY POSITIONED JETWAY AND THIS CAUSED A FUEL LINE TO BREAK. PART OF THE PROB WITH THIS PARKING AREA IS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES IN THIS JETWAY AREA WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED THE JETWAY TO NOT BE PROPERLY PARKED.
