Narrative:
While deviating around WX, in IMC conditions, we encountered moderate turbulence. The aircraft descended 500 ft, PF disconnected the autoplt and climbed back to FL350. No injuries were reported from the cabin. At the same time we encountered the turbulence we lost the yellow hydraulic system due to low level in system. Declared an emergency after consulting with maintenance control and proceeded to destination. Landing and taxi-in was uneventful. However, during postflt inspection discovered hydraulic fluid leaking from left wing flap track canoe fitting.
