Narrative:
Normal approach to landing. After touchdown, aircraft began to veer to the left. Full right rudder was applied along with right brake, and finally full tiller to the right. The aircraft stopped its veer to the left but would not correct back to the right. As the aircraft came to a stop near the centerline, tower informed us that smoke and fire was noticed from the tires. Tower came right back to say they now only noticed smoke from the right side only. Evacuate/evacuation was ordered to exit the aircraft through the left side rear passenger door only. All passenger and crew evacuate/evacuationed with no reported injuries. Evacuate/evacuation was assisted by airport fire and rescue teams.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR CREW RPTED THE ACFT PULLED TO THE L ON LNDG. FULL R RUDDER, FULL R BRAKES, AND FULL R NOSE STEERING WERE REQUIRED TO KEEP THE ACFT ON THE RWY.
Narrative: NORMAL APCH TO LNDG. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, ACFT BEGAN TO VEER TO THE L. FULL R RUDDER WAS APPLIED ALONG WITH R BRAKE, AND FINALLY FULL TILLER TO THE R. THE ACFT STOPPED ITS VEER TO THE L BUT WOULD NOT CORRECT BACK TO THE R. AS THE ACFT CAME TO A STOP NEAR THE CTRLINE, TWR INFORMED US THAT SMOKE AND FIRE WAS NOTICED FROM THE TIRES. TWR CAME RIGHT BACK TO SAY THEY NOW ONLY NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE R SIDE ONLY. EVAC WAS ORDERED TO EXIT THE ACFT THROUGH THE L SIDE REAR PAX DOOR ONLY. ALL PAX AND CREW EVACED WITH NO RPTED INJURIES. EVAC WAS ASSISTED BY ARPT FIRE AND RESCUE TEAMS.
