Narrative:
On departure from teb runway 24, I was flying the aircraft and overshot my first altitude of 1500 ft by 400 ft. The controller instructed us to stop climb, but we were not able until 1900 ft (at 1600 ft). I did not see any traffic conflict on the TCASII. The altitude alert window was incorrectly set at 2000 ft, this contributed to my error. In the future the altitude window will be set at 1500 ft until passing the DME fix which allows a climb to 2000 ft.
