Narrative:
Departed flo to atl. On climb out vectors heading 270 degrees with ZJX received an RA to descend then climb with center advising of traffic. Gave us a turn to heading 180 degrees that turned us directly into the traffic (4 F-16's) on descent into shaw AFB. We started a climb to clear traffic at same time F-16's went into a steep descending right turn to clear us. After clear of conflict nothing was said as to why we were vectored so close to the traffic. Supplemental information from acn 592424: ATC called traffic approaching from right to left as F-16's. Aircraft came in sight and ATC directed a turn to a heading of 180 degrees. Simultaneously, TCASII alert called for RA traffic 'descend, descend, descend.' following ATC instruction to turn to 180 degrees, observed 2 F-16's turning toward same direction, in right turn. Following TCASII alert, started descent and TCASII alert sounded 'climb, climb, climb.'
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CL-65 CREW AND A FLT OF 4 F-16'S HAD A TCASII RA IN ZJX CLASS E.
Narrative: DEPARTED FLO TO ATL. ON CLBOUT VECTORS HDG 270 DEGS WITH ZJX RECEIVED AN RA TO DSND THEN CLB WITH CTR ADVISING OF TFC. GAVE US A TURN TO HDG 180 DEGS THAT TURNED US DIRECTLY INTO THE TFC (4 F-16'S) ON DSCNT INTO SHAW AFB. WE STARTED A CLB TO CLR TFC AT SAME TIME F-16'S WENT INTO A STEEP DSNDING R TURN TO CLR US. AFTER CLR OF CONFLICT NOTHING WAS SAID AS TO WHY WE WERE VECTORED SO CLOSE TO THE TFC. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 592424: ATC CALLED TFC APCHING FROM R TO L AS F-16'S. ACFT CAME IN SIGHT AND ATC DIRECTED A TURN TO A HDG OF 180 DEGS. SIMULTANEOUSLY, TCASII ALERT CALLED FOR RA TFC 'DSND, DSND, DSND.' FOLLOWING ATC INSTRUCTION TO TURN TO 180 DEGS, OBSERVED 2 F-16'S TURNING TOWARD SAME DIRECTION, IN R TURN. FOLLOWING TCASII ALERT, STARTED DSCNT AND TCASII ALERT SOUNDED 'CLB, CLB, CLB.'
