Narrative:
When cleared to land on runway 12L and maintain visual with traffic for runway 12R inside 6 DME, we aligned on runway 12L. Tower called after landing to inform us that we had not been cleared for a visual to runway 12L and we should have stayed on the lda until 3 DME.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FOLLOWING AN APCH IN VISUAL CONDITIONS, FLT CREW OF MD80 ADVISED BY STL TWR UPON LNDG ON RWY 12L THAT THEY HAD FAILED TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LDA RWY 12L APCH AFTER BEING CLRED TO LAND AND TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION FROM ACFT MAKING SIMULTANEOUS APCH TO RWY 12R.
