Narrative:
I flew into the washington, dc, ADIZ. I didn't check NOTAMS believing there was no restr area going into gai, as I flew in and out of gai a few months prior. It's unfortunate that the controller I was talking to just before entering washington's control area didn't say anything about the ADIZ. Also, the ASOS at gai said something about the ADIZ, but after listening repeatedly to the ASOS. It sounded like ADI. I could not make out the 'Z.' I kept trying to figure out what 'ADI' was.
