Narrative:
I departed W29 with ADIZ clearance, for esn to practice takeoffs, lndgs and other airwork. I had filed a flight plan to re-enter the ADIZ. I called potomac TRACON for clearance to enter. They gave me a squawk and cleared me to enter the ADIZ for landing at W29. Shortly thereafter ATC queried whether I had the field in sight and I confirmed that I did. They told me that radar coverage was terminated and that I should contact W29 for advisories. I then switched to unicom, changed the squawk to 1200, entered the pattern and landed. Upon landing, the W29 FBO told me to contact ATC which I did. I explained what happened and they advised me that I should have carried the squawk to the ground.

Title: PLT OF PA34 RETURNING TO W29 WITHIN THE DC ADIZ IMPROPERLY CHANGED SQUAWK TO 1200 WHEN RADAR SVC TERMINATED BY PCT.
Narrative: I DEPARTED W29 WITH ADIZ CLRNC, FOR ESN TO PRACTICE TKOFS, LNDGS AND OTHER AIRWORK. I HAD FILED A FLT PLAN TO RE-ENTER THE ADIZ. I CALLED POTOMAC TRACON FOR CLRNC TO ENTER. THEY GAVE ME A SQUAWK AND CLRED ME TO ENTER THE ADIZ FOR LNDG AT W29. UPON LNDG, THE W29 FBO TOLD ME TO CONTACT ATC WHICH I DID. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE CARRIED THE SQUAWK TO THE GND.
