Narrative:
On a visual approach to runway 35 at phl, tower advised us of a ship in the river. I stayed slightly high and offset, and we passed slightly behind the ship. This ship appeared to be a cruise ship with a super structure higher than the typical ships on the delaware river. It appears that an aircraft on a normal glide path would pass in close proximity to a ship that large if the aircraft passed directly over the top of the ship. It would seem a good idea for the ATC facility at phl to suspend operations to runway 35 if tall ships are crossing the final approach path.
