Narrative:
ATC facility: ord departure. Location: ord, 170 degree radial 15 DME departure. On departure from ord at 5000 ft level, departure control advised VFR traffic at 5500 ft. Idented traffic at 10 O'clock position. As traffic approached to 9 O'clock position and 1/2 mi received an RA on cockpit TCASII to 'descend, descend now.' copilot followed advisory to clear of conflict down to 4500 ft. Returned to previous altitude of 5000 ft. Informed ATC we were following RA and were returning to altitude. No comment from ATC.
