Narrative:
I was PIC. On takeoff received gear disagree warning message (nose gear not retracting). Returned for overweight landing and at gate discovered nose gear was still pinned in down position. Maintenance removed pin and documented it in the afml flight was then continued uneventfully. I personally walked around aircraft and did not see the pin in nose gear. Also on pushback ramp personnel failed to notice it. The aircraft initially was repositioned from the maintenance hangar to the gate. Maintenance called to remove all pins. As no one else noticed, I believe the nose pin flag was blown up into the wheelwell while being brought from the hangar. The flag remove before flight on the crj's nose gear is very short and this has happened several times. I would like to see bombardier design a longer flag for the nose gear.

Title: A CARJ-900 FLT RETURNS AND LANDS WHEN THE CREW IS UNABLE TO RETRACT THE NOSE GEAR WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE STILL PINNED UPON LNDG.
Narrative: I WAS PIC. ON TKOF RECEIVED GEAR DISAGREE WARNING MESSAGE (NOSE GEAR NOT RETRACTING). RETURNED FOR OVERWT LNDG AND AT GATE DISCOVERED NOSE GEAR WAS STILL PINNED IN DOWN POS. MAINT REMOVED PIN AND DOCUMENTED IT IN THE AFML FLT WAS THEN CONTINUED UNEVENTFULLY. I PERSONALLY WALKED AROUND ACFT AND DID NOT SEE THE PIN IN NOSE GEAR. ALSO ON PUSHBACK RAMP PERSONNEL FAILED TO NOTICE IT. THE ACFT INITIALLY WAS REPOSITIONED FROM THE MAINT HANGAR TO THE GATE. MAINT CALLED TO REMOVE ALL PINS. AS NO ONE ELSE NOTICED, I BELIEVE THE NOSE PIN FLAG WAS BLOWN UP INTO THE WHEELWELL WHILE BEING BROUGHT FROM THE HANGAR. THE FLAG REMOVE BEFORE FLT ON THE CRJ'S NOSE GEAR IS VERY SHORT AND THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BOMBARDIER DESIGN A LONGER FLAG FOR THE NOSE GEAR.
