Narrative:
It was a plane and crew change. The inbound crew told us they had used a passenger oxygen bottle on the flight inbound. They entered it in the logbook, got an MEL and maintenance number. I revised my release with dispatch and annotated it on the release with the operations agent. As the other crew was leaving, they said they had not placed the MEL stickers in either the logbook or on the respective panels. I told them I would do that for them. We got busy with the preflight and boarding and I made a mental note to accomplish the sticker placement en route to our destination on takeoff from sea. We experienced an engine seizure at rotation and returned to sea with an emergency landing. With all the communications and paperwork involved with the post emergency wrap-up, I forgot to post the stickers as I had told the outbound crew I would take care of. There is no excuse, but I did get a little busy and was somewhat distraction. Moral: do it now. You may forget later!
