Narrative:

Starting approach to mcc airport, runway 34. We were arriving from the west and entering on a wide left base about three plus mi from the airport and at about 1800 ft MSL. I was concentrating on the runway and asked for 'flaps 15 degrees.' the captain lowered the flaps. At that time, we both looked up and saw a piper seneca from right to left fly across the nose at about 100-150 ft ahead and about 20 ft high. Evasive maneuver at that point would have been useless. We continued to a normal approach and landing. In the future, I will wait to cancel my IFR until closer to the airport or after landing.
