Narrative:
I had just departed pdk VFR and requested a south turnout from tower for my destination of pfn. Tower approved my request and I turned direct to pfn. I expected to be handed off to another frequency but was not and I soon realized that I was deep within class B airspace nearing atl. At this time I switched to atl departure and notified them of my position, leveling off at 6500 ft, since I had not still heard about what frequency to change to from the tower at pdk. I am a new IFR pilot and had never been to pdk or atl previously, IFR or VFR, and I realize that I did not follow the correct procedures for flight into, or through, class B. My confusion at not receiving a frequency change from pdk caused me a delay in judgement. In the future I will plan my VFR departures more carefully or file IFR.

Title: SR22 PLT ENTERED ATL CLASS B WITHOUT CLRNC, AFTER EXPECTING THE PDK ATCT LCL CTLR TO GIVE HIM A HDOF TO A80 TRACON.
Narrative: I HAD JUST DEPARTED PDK VFR AND REQUESTED A S TURNOUT FROM TWR FOR MY DEST OF PFN. TWR APPROVED MY REQUEST AND I TURNED DIRECT TO PFN. I EXPECTED TO BE HANDED OFF TO ANOTHER FREQ BUT WAS NOT AND I SOON REALIZED THAT I WAS DEEP WITHIN CLASS B AIRSPACE NEARING ATL. AT THIS TIME I SWITCHED TO ATL DEP AND NOTIFIED THEM OF MY POS, LEVELING OFF AT 6500 FT, SINCE I HAD NOT STILL HEARD ABOUT WHAT FREQ TO CHANGE TO FROM THE TWR AT PDK. I AM A NEW IFR PLT AND HAD NEVER BEEN TO PDK OR ATL PREVIOUSLY, IFR OR VFR, AND I REALIZE THAT I DID NOT FOLLOW THE CORRECT PROCS FOR FLT INTO, OR THROUGH, CLASS B. MY CONFUSION AT NOT RECEIVING A FREQ CHANGE FROM PDK CAUSED ME A DELAY IN JUDGEMENT. IN THE FUTURE I WILL PLAN MY VFR DEPS MORE CAREFULLY OR FILE IFR.
