Narrative:
During 2ND service #1 flight attendant called indicating there was a fire in first class galley, she needed all flight attendant's aware and extinguishers. I asked what type of fire? #1 flight attendant stated oven fire. I notified flight attendant's #4 and 7. I went to doghouse right side back course, grabbed halon, then proceeded quickly to first class galley. Flight attendant #1 opened oven, I saw flames. I pulled the pin, held bottom of halon can for support and began the sweeping motion. Flight attendant #9 came up with halon from coach, I took his halon and proceeded to extinguish the oven to make sure all flames were out. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the airplane was a B767-300 and the fire was extinguished almost immediately due to quick response by the cabin crew. The reporter said the contents of the oven that were burning consisted of food, bread and pastry. The reporter stated no circuit breakers were found tripped and the oven was made inoperative by turning off the power. The reporter said no emergency was declared and no diversion occurred.
