Narrative:
Hou tower cleared us to taxi to runway 12R via taxiway delta. The captain stopped on runway 17 well clear of runway 12R. This didn't seem quite right, but we were then cleared for takeoff on runway 12R. The next day upon returning to hou we realized the hold short for runway 12R was the same as for runway 17. We were aware of the caution and hold short arrangement for taxiway east. We missed the hold short for runway 12R on delta the night before. Although well clear of runway 12R until cleared for takeoff we did enter runway 17.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MD-80 CREW HAD A RWY INCURSION AFTER THE ATCT GND CTLR CLRED THEM TO TAXI TO RWY 12R. THE CREW HELD SHORT ON RWY 17. LATER THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 17 AND 12R ARE THE SAME. THIS OCCURRED AT HOU.
Narrative: HOU TWR CLRED US TO TAXI TO RWY 12R VIA TXWY DELTA. THE CAPT STOPPED ON RWY 17 WELL CLR OF RWY 12R. THIS DIDN'T SEEM QUITE RIGHT, BUT WE WERE THEN CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 12R. THE NEXT DAY UPON RETURNING TO HOU WE REALIZED THE HOLD SHORT FOR RWY 12R WAS THE SAME AS FOR RWY 17. WE WERE AWARE OF THE CAUTION AND HOLD SHORT ARRANGEMENT FOR TXWY E. WE MISSED THE HOLD SHORT FOR RWY 12R ON DELTA THE NIGHT BEFORE. ALTHOUGH WELL CLR OF RWY 12R UNTIL CLRED FOR TKOF WE DID ENTER RWY 17.
