Narrative:
After landing, an irate passenger wanted to speak to me, claiming she will file a report with the FAA concerning our flight from phoenix. The issue was that the passenger sitting next to her was allowed by our flight attendant to hold onto a potted plant, which was not secured. I spoke with our flight attendant immediately afterwards and she claimed there was no place in the cabin where the potted plant would fit, so she allowed the passenger to keep it with her and hold onto it during the flight. I indicated this matter should have been brought to my attention before, not after the flight. Our flight attendant claimed there was no time to do so. Better flight attendant training and greater insistence on stowing all unsecured objects would have prevented this concern. Also, flight attendants should not hesitate to notify the flight crew of any irregularities as soon as they are noticed, not after the flight.

Title: AN IRATE PAX APPROACHES THE CAPT OF A CL65 COMPLAINING OF HER SEAT PARTNER'S HOLDING OF A POTTED PLANT IN THE SEAT DURING THE FLT TO TUS, AZ.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG, AN IRATE PAX WANTED TO SPEAK TO ME, CLAIMING SHE WILL FILE A RPT WITH THE FAA CONCERNING OUR FLT FROM PHOENIX. THE ISSUE WAS THAT THE PAX SITTING NEXT TO HER WAS ALLOWED BY OUR FLT ATTENDANT TO HOLD ONTO A POTTED PLANT, WHICH WAS NOT SECURED. I SPOKE WITH OUR FLT ATTENDANT IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS AND SHE CLAIMED THERE WAS NO PLACE IN THE CABIN WHERE THE POTTED PLANT WOULD FIT, SO SHE ALLOWED THE PAX TO KEEP IT WITH HER AND HOLD ONTO IT DURING THE FLT. I INDICATED THIS MATTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTN BEFORE, NOT AFTER THE FLT. OUR FLT ATTENDANT CLAIMED THERE WAS NO TIME TO DO SO. BETTER FLT ATTENDANT TRAINING AND GREATER INSISTENCE ON STOWING ALL UNSECURED OBJECTS WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS CONCERN. ALSO, FLT ATTENDANTS SHOULD NOT HESITATE TO NOTIFY THE FLT CREW OF ANY IRREGULARITIES AS SOON AS THEY ARE NOTICED, NOT AFTER THE FLT.
