Narrative:
Windsock is unlighted. When we started our training flight, winds were a direct crosswind. We used the preferred runway which is runway 28. 1 hour later there was an 8 KT tailwind on that runway. ATIS at rochester (roc) still favored runway 28. A lighted windsock would help perform safe operations.
