Narrative:
Demonstration flight with aircraft broker/pilot of advertised aircraft for sale. After flight, inspection of logbooks revealed that certification tests of pitot static system and transponder had not been accomplished since 1997. Annual was current. PIC -- pre-buy maintenance inspection found bent nose gear push rod and other deficiencies not visible during normal preflight inspection. Aircraft was not airworthy at the time of the demonstration flight.

Title: A BE33 PLT AFTER A DEMO FLT REALIZES THAT THE ACFT WAS NOT AIRWORTHY.
Narrative: DEMO FLT WITH ACFT BROKER/PLT OF ADVERTISED ACFT FOR SALE. AFTER FLT, INSPECTION OF LOGBOOKS REVEALED THAT CERTIFICATION TESTS OF PITOT STATIC SYS AND XPONDER HAD NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED SINCE 1997. ANNUAL WAS CURRENT. PIC -- PRE-BUY MAINT INSPECTION FOUND BENT NOSE GEAR PUSH ROD AND OTHER DEFICIENCIES NOT VISIBLE DURING NORMAL PREFLT INSPECTION. ACFT WAS NOT AIRWORTHY AT THE TIME OF THE DEMO FLT.
