Narrative:

Out of 1500 ft after takeoff, bag smoke EICAS warning with red 'bag exiting' button illuminated. Applied memory item, pressed 'bagextng' button. Bagsmoke did not extinguish immediately. We declared an emergency and took a vector for an immediate return to sna. Bag smoke warning extinguished after about 1 to 2 mins. We had time to ask the flight attendant to take a look through the peephole in the lavatory. She did and noted no smoke visually and noted no adverse odor. We landed without incident and the fire crew was there to meet us. Meeting the stipulations of AOM1, we deplaned the passenger normally. The fire crew opened the cargo door and inspected for indications of fire and or smoke. They reported no signs. The aircraft was then written up, placarded with the appropriate MEL and authority/authorized numbers recorded, then repositioned to destination.
