Narrative:
On nov/tue/03, at XA00, myself and another mechanic were troubleshooting an MEL for 'no raw data on GPS.' after replacing antenna with no help to problem, I removed the #2 multi-mode receiver to facilitate coax cable check-out. At XC00 we determined that to be the cause and were told by our lead to continue it or MEL and got the airplane to the gate for it's XD00 flight. Myself and other mechanic hustled to make this happen. We split duties, one closing up e-bay and other signing logbook, in a hurried state we made this happen. In the process the multi-made receiver was left on shelf, not installed. Pilot reported no antenna functions in flight where this was found. My failure to complete a CAT IIIA recertification would have caught this omission before this happened. Being a CAT IIIA certified mechanic, I should have remembered that the multi-mode receiver is CAT IIIA sensitive. Had I taken the time to perform this 30 min process, the problem would have never happened, for which I apologize.
