Narrative:
We had began an approach into atl and traffic was heavy. On descent, we encountered wake turbulence from a preceding aircraft. It was constant vectoring and then they switched runways. Approach controller cleared us for a visual to the new runway and we started loading the FMGS. When we landed, approach informed us to contact tower. We did and were cleared to land as we taxied off. Out busy work in traffic and wake turbulence took us out of situational awareness. I did not confirm with the captain at the OM that we were on tower frequency.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN AIRBUS CREW LANDS AT ATL WITHOUT RECEIVING CLRNC AFTER MUCH VECTORING AND SOME WAKE TURB FOLLOWED BY A RWY CHANGE DURING THE APCH.
Narrative: WE HAD BEGAN AN APCH INTO ATL AND TFC WAS HVY. ON DSCNT, WE ENCOUNTERED WAKE TURB FROM A PRECEDING ACFT. IT WAS CONSTANT VECTORING AND THEN THEY SWITCHED RWYS. APCH CTLR CLRED US FOR A VISUAL TO THE NEW RWY AND WE STARTED LOADING THE FMGS. WHEN WE LANDED, APCH INFORMED US TO CONTACT TWR. WE DID AND WERE CLRED TO LAND AS WE TAXIED OFF. OUT BUSY WORK IN TFC AND WAKE TURB TOOK US OUT OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. I DID NOT CONFIRM WITH THE CAPT AT THE OM THAT WE WERE ON TWR FREQ.
