Narrative:
After pushback with the #1 engine running, the parking brake was set. There was no indication on the triple brake indicator of the parking brake system engaged with normal pressure. In addition, there was no indication on upper ECAM indicating 'parking brake set.' my captain, after acknowledging the normal call 'parking brake set, pressure normal,' realized he did not have a normal indication of the parking brake being set. The aircraft started to roll forward and my captain then regained brake control through the brake toe pedals. After the aircraft stopped using the brake toe pedals, the parking brake was reengaged. The parking brake system functioned normal at that time. Confirmation was established with the ground crew that there was nobody injured or no aircraft damage. The captain and I discussed the decision to continue on with all normal operations and indications of the brake system.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN A320 CAPT CALLS 'BRAKES SET, PRESSURE NORMAL' TO THE TUG DRIVER BEFORE ACTUALLY VERIFYING IT WAS. THIS RESULTED IN SOME INADVERTENT ACFT MOVEMENT.
Narrative: AFTER PUSHBACK WITH THE #1 ENG RUNNING, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS SET. THERE WAS NO INDICATION ON THE TRIPLE BRAKE INDICATOR OF THE PARKING BRAKE SYS ENGAGED WITH NORMAL PRESSURE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS NO INDICATION ON UPPER ECAM INDICATING 'PARKING BRAKE SET.' MY CAPT, AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING THE NORMAL CALL 'PARKING BRAKE SET, PRESSURE NORMAL,' REALIZED HE DID NOT HAVE A NORMAL INDICATION OF THE PARKING BRAKE BEING SET. THE ACFT STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD AND MY CAPT THEN REGAINED BRAKE CTL THROUGH THE BRAKE TOE PEDALS. AFTER THE ACFT STOPPED USING THE BRAKE TOE PEDALS, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS REENGAGED. THE PARKING BRAKE SYS FUNCTIONED NORMAL AT THAT TIME. CONFIRMATION WAS ESTABLISHED WITH THE GND CREW THAT THERE WAS NOBODY INJURED OR NO ACFT DAMAGE. THE CAPT AND I DISCUSSED THE DECISION TO CONTINUE ON WITH ALL NORMAL OPS AND INDICATIONS OF THE BRAKE SYS.
