Narrative:

At 1000 ft in night VFR and cleared to land runway 27, we executed a go around to avoid the wake of a heavy A330. A safe approach and landing ensued. This is the second time this yr I've experienced this kind of operation at bos. The tower controller told us a heavy was to depart runway 15R just prior to our landing. The winds were 270 degrees/6 KTS. I sincerely question the safety of this kind of operation and feel it should be addressed. If this had happened in IFR and the tower controller had not told us about the heavy, we would never have known. The runway 15R departures were controled by a different tower frequency.
