Narrative:
I was the PF on flight XXXX ZZZ-ZZZ1. During the initial climb the yaw damper was selected at 500 ft AGL. We immediately received a rudder system 1-2 fail caution message on the EICAS. We leveled off at 3000 ft and ran the rudder system 1-2 procedure in aol volume 1. Both rudder system were recovered but the yaw damper fail caution message remained. We were vectored by ATC to orbit around zzzzz intersection on the ILS runway 18R approach course. After consulting soc and moc we returned for us and had equipment waiting for our landing. After clearing runway 18R on intersection ek we received a rudder system #2 fail EICAS caution message. We taxied to the gate without further problems. Manual reversion of the rudders worked properly during the rudder system 1-2 failure and we did not attempt to engage the yaw damper or autoplt for the remainder of the flight. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated getting the EICAS caution on the rudder #1 and #2 hydraulic system on the embraer 145 is a non event. The reporter said the fix is just to cycle the rudder hydraulic switches and that corrects the problem. The reporter stated the yaw dampers don't have a quick fix and we returned to the field. The reporter said while taxiing to the gate the EICAS caution #2 rudder system illuminated. The reporter stated maintenance has not advised the crew of the maintenance action or component replaced.

Title: AN EMBRAER 145 ON TKOF CLB AT 500 FT DIVERTED DUE TO EICAS RUDDER 1-2 FAIL CAUTION. RECYCLED RUDDER HYDS, RECOVERED RUDDER SYS, THEN GOT YAW DAMPER FAIL CAUTION.
Narrative: I WAS THE PF ON FLT XXXX ZZZ-ZZZ1. DURING THE INITIAL CLB THE YAW DAMPER WAS SELECTED AT 500 FT AGL. WE IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED A RUDDER SYS 1-2 FAIL CAUTION MESSAGE ON THE EICAS. WE LEVELED OFF AT 3000 FT AND RAN THE RUDDER SYS 1-2 PROC IN AOL VOLUME 1. BOTH RUDDER SYS WERE RECOVERED BUT THE YAW DAMPER FAIL CAUTION MESSAGE REMAINED. WE WERE VECTORED BY ATC TO ORBIT AROUND ZZZZZ INTXN ON THE ILS RWY 18R APCH COURSE. AFTER CONSULTING SOC AND MOC WE RETURNED FOR US AND HAD EQUIP WAITING FOR OUR LNDG. AFTER CLRING RWY 18R ON INTXN EK WE RECEIVED A RUDDER SYS #2 FAIL EICAS CAUTION MESSAGE. WE TAXIED TO THE GATE WITHOUT FURTHER PROBS. MANUAL REVERSION OF THE RUDDERS WORKED PROPERLY DURING THE RUDDER SYS 1-2 FAILURE AND WE DID NOT ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE THE YAW DAMPER OR AUTOPLT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED GETTING THE EICAS CAUTION ON THE RUDDER #1 AND #2 HYD SYS ON THE EMBRAER 145 IS A NON EVENT. THE RPTR SAID THE FIX IS JUST TO CYCLE THE RUDDER HYD SWITCHES AND THAT CORRECTS THE PROB. THE RPTR STATED THE YAW DAMPERS DON'T HAVE A QUICK FIX AND WE RETURNED TO THE FIELD. THE RPTR SAID WHILE TAXIING TO THE GATE THE EICAS CAUTION #2 RUDDER SYS ILLUMINATED. THE RPTR STATED MAINT HAS NOT ADVISED THE CREW OF THE MAINT ACTION OR COMPONENT REPLACED.
