Narrative:
Observed improper xfer of fuel from tip tanks into main fuel tank that supplies each engine. This required my total usable fuel supply available. Explained situation to bna approach control and requested a priority landing. Bna responded with a visual clearance to land runway 13. Approach control switched me over to tower and cleared me to land. Bna approach asked me if I wanted emergency equipment standing by. I responded 'yes.' the landing was uneventful. Maintenance discovered a worn gasket on the right fuel tank filler cap, causing it not to pressurize causing an imbal between the left and right fuel tip tanks, thus shutting off fuel xfer from the tips to the main tank.
