Narrative:

I was final controller. My plan was to take a lear jet from downwind and cross 2 finals for runway 17. I issued traffic to the lear, who in time, reported aircraft in sight. I cleared the lear for visual approach, but failed to tell him to 'maintain visual separation from that traffic.' I have determined that slow, light traffic led me to be more lax with the situation. I noted a deficiency in my standard phraseology help to contribute to this error. To correct this, I am pushing myself to be less distraction, more focused on my position with many or no airplanes. Also, to adhere to strict standard phraseology which will indeed be of help and benefit.
