Narrative:
While on taxi with ground control, on taxiway J short of taxiway K, before reaching taxiway K, controller said (I believe) 'taxi into position 23, full length. We'll get you out shortly.' my first officer acknowledged and continued with a checklist. I taxied onto runway 23 full length and saw ground frequency active, and figured the same guy was working both frequencys. I switched to tower and heard instructions for someone to go around. I explained, tower said 'don't worry, there was a mix-up.' my first officer and I are certain we heard 'full length,' not sure if we heard the word 'position,' or we may be second-guessing ourselves. We are certain the full length runway 23 instructions never included the words 'hold short.' I checked final, but didn't see the other aircraft at any time.

Title: GAR MADE BY AN ACFT APCHING RWY 23 AFTER A RWY INCURSION OCCURS WHEN A CL65 FLT CREW INTERPS THE CLRNC FOR TAKING THE ACTIVE RWY AT GSO, NC. ATC ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY.
Narrative: WHILE ON TAXI WITH GND CTL, ON TXWY J SHORT OF TXWY K, BEFORE REACHING TXWY K, CTLR SAID (I BELIEVE) 'TAXI INTO POS 23, FULL LENGTH. WE'LL GET YOU OUT SHORTLY.' MY FO ACKNOWLEDGED AND CONTINUED WITH A CHKLIST. I TAXIED ONTO RWY 23 FULL LENGTH AND SAW GND FREQ ACTIVE, AND FIGURED THE SAME GUY WAS WORKING BOTH FREQS. I SWITCHED TO TWR AND HEARD INSTRUCTIONS FOR SOMEONE TO GO AROUND. I EXPLAINED, TWR SAID 'DON'T WORRY, THERE WAS A MIX-UP.' MY FO AND I ARE CERTAIN WE HEARD 'FULL LENGTH,' NOT SURE IF WE HEARD THE WORD 'POS,' OR WE MAY BE SECOND-GUESSING OURSELVES. WE ARE CERTAIN THE FULL LENGTH RWY 23 INSTRUCTIONS NEVER INCLUDED THE WORDS 'HOLD SHORT.' I CHKED FINAL, BUT DIDN'T SEE THE OTHER ACFT AT ANY TIME.
