Narrative:
PIC was a flight instructor teaching a student cross country flying. Upon arrival, instructor was teaching pilotage for proper entry into ADIZ in the washington/baltimore area. Aircraft was inbound to W29 on a VFR search and rescue flight plan. Airport specific transponder code was never entered into transponder. 1200 was squawked on the transponder until on short final when instructor looked at flap setting and noticed XXXX was not entered. The rest of the flight was on XXXX. PIC was notified on the ground that the potomac TRACON had called about possible ADIZ deviation. PIC contacted potomac TRACON. The procedures have changed recently for the W29 airport. The PIC/flight instructor is new to the area and has been briefed on ADIZ procedures, but is still adjusting to the changing procedures. W29 is on the edge of class B airspace, and aircraft inbound are no threat to the washington/baltimore area. It would be nice to see some changes to see a lifting of all the restrs.
