Narrative:

My mechanic informed me that the aircraft was unairworthy due to failure to comply with airworthiness directive 91-14-22, at which time I grounded the aircraft. The aircraft had a landing accident in 1994 in which the propeller was damaged. I was not involved in the maintenance of the aircraft at that time, a family member was taking care of it. During the rebuilding process, the family member passed away. The arrangements for the repairs had already been made. The airworthiness directive was not complied with at that time as it should have been. The same maintenance facility continued to do the annual inspections until recently. The logbooks were destroyed in a fire in the maintenance facility hangar and reproduced from my personal maintenance receipt records. The facility that is presently maintaining my aircraft only discovered this omission of airworthiness directive compliance when I provided him with information beyond the logbooks that I did not realize were pertinent. He wrote me a letter informing me that the aircraft is unworthy and it is now grounded.

Title: A C182 WAS DISCOVERED TO HAVE AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE NOT ACCOMPLISHED AND WAS GNDED FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Narrative: MY MECH INFORMED ME THAT THE ACFT WAS UNAIRWORTHY DUE TO FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE 91-14-22, AT WHICH TIME I GNDED THE ACFT. THE ACFT HAD A LNDG ACCIDENT IN 1994 IN WHICH THE PROP WAS DAMAGED. I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE MAINT OF THE ACFT AT THAT TIME, A FAMILY MEMBER WAS TAKING CARE OF IT. DURING THE REBUILDING PROCESS, THE FAMILY MEMBER PASSED AWAY. THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE REPAIRS HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE. THE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE WAS NOT COMPLIED WITH AT THAT TIME AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THE SAME MAINT FACILITY CONTINUED TO DO THE ANNUAL INSPECTIONS UNTIL RECENTLY. THE LOGBOOKS WERE DESTROYED IN A FIRE IN THE MAINT FACILITY HANGAR AND REPRODUCED FROM MY PERSONAL MAINT RECEIPT RECORDS.
