Narrative:
I made a water landing at chautauqua lake. I flew from the lake directly to jhw airport, roughly 4 mi. I entered a left downwind for runway 25. I landed on runway 25. I glanced up to the flap handle to remove the flaps. The aircraft headed for the left side of the runway, toward the direction of the wind/ the aircraft was traveling too slow for rudder effectiveness. I used right brake to bring plane back toward centerline. The brakes were still wet from the water landing, and had no effect. I steered the plane onto the grass on the left side of runway to avoid a runway light. The plane got stuck in the mud. FBO gave me a light tug and I drove plane back on runway. On taxi to ramp, I had full brake effectiveness. No damage to aircraft or airport.

Narrative: I MADE A WATER LNDG AT CHAUTAUQUA LAKE. I FLEW FROM THE LAKE DIRECTLY TO JHW ARPT, ROUGHLY 4 MI. I ENTERED A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 25. I LANDED ON RWY 25. I GLANCED UP TO THE FLAP HANDLE TO REMOVE THE FLAPS. THE ACFT HEADED FOR THE L SIDE OF THE RWY, TOWARD THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND/ THE ACFT WAS TRAVELING TOO SLOW FOR RUDDER EFFECTIVENESS. I USED R BRAKE TO BRING PLANE BACK TOWARD CTRLINE. THE BRAKES WERE STILL WET FROM THE WATER LNDG, AND HAD NO EFFECT. I STEERED THE PLANE ONTO THE GRASS ON THE L SIDE OF RWY TO AVOID A RWY LIGHT. THE PLANE GOT STUCK IN THE MUD. FBO GAVE ME A LIGHT TUG AND I DROVE PLANE BACK ON RWY. ON TAXI TO RAMP, I HAD FULL BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS. NO DAMAGE TO ACFT OR ARPT.
