Narrative:
First officer and I smelled cigarette smoke in the cockpit. I called the first flight attendant and notified her that someone was smoking. At the same time, deadheading company pilots and first class passenger also told the first class flight attendant that they smelled the smoke and saw who it was. Flight attendants talked with the passenger, who denied smoking. When the flight attendant asked him what he did with the cigarette butt, he told her it was in his pocket and gave it to the flight attendant. I called dispatch and had them notify operations to have auths meet the aircraft. Passenger was taken by the auths to be questioned.
