Narrative:
At departure time, my cabin crew advised me of an open seat. I sent one of my 2 jumpseat riders back. After pushback, I was told by my cabin crew that a deadheading flight attendant did not have a seat. At that time, I put the jumpseat rider back in the cockpit. Other than being told by my cabin crew that the flight attendant in question was going to use the intercom system herself, I did not know of the cell phone use or any other details in the cabin. Supplemental information from acn 604040: prior to pushback from dtw, a flight attendant told one of our 2 jumpseating capts that a seat was now available in the cabin on our full flight. One captain took the seat. During push, and prior to engine start, a flight attendant chimed and reported the seat was no longer available and that the captain would be returning to the cockpit. The remaining jumpseating captain allowed the other jumpseating captain entry into the cockpit. Some time late into cruise, we were informed that the flight attendant who had chimed the cockpit during push was a uniformed, deadheading, but otherwise unidented flight attendant who did not consult with the working crew members regarding the returning jumpseater to the cockpit. We had no knowledge of the issue until late into the flight.

Title: A B757 CAPT AND FO RPTED THE INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR OF A DEADHEADING FLT ATTENDANT FROM PUSHBACK AT DFW, THROUGHOUT THE FLT TO MIA.
Narrative: AT DEP TIME, MY CABIN CREW ADVISED ME OF AN OPEN SEAT. I SENT ONE OF MY 2 JUMPSEAT RIDERS BACK. AFTER PUSHBACK, I WAS TOLD BY MY CABIN CREW THAT A DEADHEADING FLT ATTENDANT DID NOT HAVE A SEAT. AT THAT TIME, I PUT THE JUMPSEAT RIDER BACK IN THE COCKPIT. OTHER THAN BEING TOLD BY MY CABIN CREW THAT THE FLT ATTENDANT IN QUESTION WAS GOING TO USE THE INTERCOM SYS HERSELF, I DID NOT KNOW OF THE CELL PHONE USE OR ANY OTHER DETAILS IN THE CABIN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 604040: PRIOR TO PUSHBACK FROM DTW, A FLT ATTENDANT TOLD ONE OF OUR 2 JUMPSEATING CAPTS THAT A SEAT WAS NOW AVAILABLE IN THE CABIN ON OUR FULL FLT. ONE CAPT TOOK THE SEAT. DURING PUSH, AND PRIOR TO ENG START, A FLT ATTENDANT CHIMED AND RPTED THE SEAT WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND THAT THE CAPT WOULD BE RETURNING TO THE COCKPIT. THE REMAINING JUMPSEATING CAPT ALLOWED THE OTHER JUMPSEATING CAPT ENTRY INTO THE COCKPIT. SOME TIME LATE INTO CRUISE, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE FLT ATTENDANT WHO HAD CHIMED THE COCKPIT DURING PUSH WAS A UNIFORMED, DEADHEADING, BUT OTHERWISE UNIDENTED FLT ATTENDANT WHO DID NOT CONSULT WITH THE WORKING CREW MEMBERS REGARDING THE RETURNING JUMPSEATER TO THE COCKPIT. WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISSUE UNTIL LATE INTO THE FLT.
