Narrative:
I was captain of a flight on an emb-145. I was cleared for takeoff as we taxied toward the runway. Runway 4L was the runway we were cleared for takeoff on. As I taxied towards the runway 4L, noticed that runway 36 and runway 4L were joined at their approach ends. Also, I noticed that runway 4L had a displaced threshold, so I taxied onto the runway at intersection east of runway 4L. I thought, initially, that if I taxied further, it was only for runway 36. As I taxied onto runway 4L at intersection east, I realized that runway 4L went down another 300 ft. At this point I figured that the performance charts for takeoff just covered the actual runway, not including the displaced threshold. 8273 ft with displaced threshold, 7496 ft without. So, I took off with this assumption. After I took off, I found out that the chart was for the 8273 ft. This included the displaced threshold. Being in a hurry and making an assumption led to this takeoff. I should have back-taxied to the end of the runway and then taken off.

Title: AN EMB145 CAPT TOOK OFF FROM INTXN E OF RWY 4L AT LIT WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE USED THE FULL LENGTH.
Narrative: I WAS CAPT OF A FLT ON AN EMB-145. I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF AS WE TAXIED TOWARD THE RWY. RWY 4L WAS THE RWY WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON. AS I TAXIED TOWARDS THE RWY 4L, NOTICED THAT RWY 36 AND RWY 4L WERE JOINED AT THEIR APCH ENDS. ALSO, I NOTICED THAT RWY 4L HAD A DISPLACED THRESHOLD, SO I TAXIED ONTO THE RWY AT INTXN E OF RWY 4L. I THOUGHT, INITIALLY, THAT IF I TAXIED FURTHER, IT WAS ONLY FOR RWY 36. AS I TAXIED ONTO RWY 4L AT INTXN E, I REALIZED THAT RWY 4L WENT DOWN ANOTHER 300 FT. AT THIS POINT I FIGURED THAT THE PERFORMANCE CHARTS FOR TKOF JUST COVERED THE ACTUAL RWY, NOT INCLUDING THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD. 8273 FT WITH DISPLACED THRESHOLD, 7496 FT WITHOUT. SO, I TOOK OFF WITH THIS ASSUMPTION. AFTER I TOOK OFF, I FOUND OUT THAT THE CHART WAS FOR THE 8273 FT. THIS INCLUDED THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD. BEING IN A HURRY AND MAKING AN ASSUMPTION LED TO THIS TKOF. I SHOULD HAVE BACK-TAXIED TO THE END OF THE RWY AND THEN TAKEN OFF.
