Narrative:
Upon takeoff, we felt the aircraft shifting from side-to-side, something we felt didn't seem usual but then we also thought it might be the wind blowing us around. We started to do our beverage service and about 30-40 mins into the flight, the captain came on the PA to tell us we were turning around and going back to sfo because one of the engines was surging. We then proceeded back to ZZZ without incident.
