Narrative:
From position and hold with parking brake set on runway 27R, cleared for takeoff by tower. As I was reading back the takeoff clearance, a light twin aircraft taxied across runway 27R on taxiway Q from north to south. (4000 ft from takeoff end) the first officer had just released the parking brake and the aircraft was moving. The controller noticed the conflicting traffic at the same time I did and partially stepped on my readback transmission. By this time the twin was well clear of the runway and the tower responded with clearance to continue the takeoff roll which the first officer did with my concurrence. Takeoff was normal with no threat of collision.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A320 DEP FROM FLL HESITATES TKOF OBSERVING ACFT XING RWY DOWNFIELD.
Narrative: FROM POS AND HOLD WITH PARKING BRAKE SET ON RWY 27R, CLRED FOR TKOF BY TWR. AS I WAS READING BACK THE TKOF CLRNC, A LIGHT TWIN ACFT TAXIED ACROSS RWY 27R ON TXWY Q FROM N TO S. (4000 FT FROM TKOF END) THE FO HAD JUST RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE ACFT WAS MOVING. THE CTLR NOTICED THE CONFLICTING TFC AT THE SAME TIME I DID AND PARTIALLY STEPPED ON MY READBACK XMISSION. BY THIS TIME THE TWIN WAS WELL CLR OF THE RWY AND THE TWR RESPONDED WITH CLRNC TO CONTINUE THE TKOF ROLL WHICH THE FO DID WITH MY CONCURRENCE. TKOF WAS NORMAL WITH NO THREAT OF COLLISION.
